I agree that he wont turn himself in.. But what if the guards at the prison notice that Champatheiu is not as strong as Jean Valjean? They might catch on to Jean Valjean.

I think that Valjean will not say anything to Javert and just go on doing what hes doing at the time but I also think that its deep in his mind that he should admit what he has done to Javert........... Hes confused on what to do.But I think he wont.

Then after that he will listen to his conscience instead of ignoring the only option he has.
i disagree because if he did turn himself in he would have to go back to the chain gang and work until he died either that or they would put him in the electric chair when he got there

i think he wont turn himself in because he got his life good. like it says he caught his jean valjean.
I think he will turn himself in, because it says that the day his name will reappear is the day his new life is gone,& even his new soul .

I think he will try not to turn his self in. I think that by how he is acting like he has been in the chain gang for 19 years and he is now free so he wouldn’t want to go back. Quotes that Jean Valjean uses is like saying he don’t want to see him like a quote he used what “It seemed to him that somebody could see him.”

He replied, “Who?” That is when everybody started to say Alas!

Another couple good reason is because he succeeded in disappearing from sight, sold the bishop’s silver, keeping only the candlesticks as souvenirs, quietly slipped from city to city across France. That’s why I think he will not turn his self in.

i think that he will keep his mouth shut and let the other guy go to prision because he will not want to go to prision again and loose the great life he has now and in line one 129 he says all i have to do is leave things alone

                I think that Jean Valjean will not turn him self in because how he acts about champmathieus beign cought and he says now he is free and now he dont have to worrie about it any more they have cought there Jean valjean and they dont think m. madiline is Jean valjean so hes off the hook, and dont need to run because there are other people from the chain gang say that this mathieus guy is jean Valjean because they look alike and if javert dont think its him then he dont have to worrie about it.

I think that Jean Valjean, or M. Madeline, will not turn himself in to Javert. I think this because he worked 19 years in the chain gang and went through all that suffering. I wouldn’t want to go back to jail ether. I think this will happen also because he said when Jean Valjean would suddenly emerge from the night and stand before him, the good and worthy citizen M. Madeleine would come forth more honored, more peaceful, and more respected than ever. This shows that when he was a criminal, people didn’t respect him. However, when he’s M. Madeline, people honor and respect him for the awesome person that he’s become.  He also said he is satisfied, he will leave me in peace,  he caught his Jean Valjean! This means that he thinks that Javert will finally leave him alone and he will not have to worry anymore. He knows that some other guy is going to jail for him so he wont have to take the pain and stress of jail again. Thats why I think that Valjean will not turn himself in.
